Hazy summer morning
I’d been glad of the shelter of the trees when I reached the top of the hill. It was mid-summer, and the weather was hot. As I broke out of the far side of the copse, this image lay before me: the heat haze shimmering over the parched moorland, with its lone tree standing resolutely in the middle distance. The scene had a painterly quality—something timeless and evocative—that reminded me strongly of a classic landscape painting. Yet, try as I might, I couldn’t place the artist’s name to look it up.
If anyone has a suggestion about which artist this might bring to mind, please do leave a message. I’d love to discover who captured such a scene in paint—much like the moment I was fortunate enough to capture through my lens here in the New Forest.
